Introduction

CodeLab is thrilled to introduce CodeLab Nova, a career development program for ambitious underclassmen who are eager to contribute, learn quickly, and experience CodeLab’s culture even if they are still building their technical toolkit. Nova gives you a real path to ship meaningful work, collaborate like a professional, and build the confidence to take on larger client projects next.

Background

We created Nova for motivated students who want hands-on experience before they are fully client ready. Instead of waiting, you will learn by doing. Each cohort we intend to build and ship a real feature that runs in production across the CodeLab ecosystem, reaching 100+ users. You will work within a supportive structure that includes cross-functional teams, clear expectations, and guidance from experienced board members. You will also have access to focused workshops, bootcamps, and office hours that accelerate your growth.

What is the CodeLab Nova Program?

CodeLab Nova is a structured, team-based program where each cohort delivers a production feature from design to deployment. Teams include 4 developers and 2 designers to mirror real product workflows and emphasize cross-functional collaboration. You will receive ongoing mentorship from board members, practice scoping and iterative shipping, and make user-focused decisions with measurable impact. Upon successful completion, outstanding performers earn a direct pipeline into our Client Cohort, where you will take on external projects with real stakeholders and higher scope. Nova is your launchpad from learner to impactful builder.

Key Details:

Team Size: Each team will consist of a diverse mix of 3/4 developers, and 2/3 designers.
Duration: The program runs for one quarter, allowing for an opportunity to shift to client depending on performance.
Mentorship: Teams will have access to experienced Software and Design Education mentors who provide guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Resources: Participants will have access to tools and resources necessary for product development, including design software, project management tools, and market research databases.
Phases: The project will be divided into key phases: planning, development, testing, and launch. </aside>

Eligibility

What We Are Looking For:

Designers: Creativity, proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe), and a solid understanding of user experience principles.
Developers: Strong coding skills (e.g., JavaScript, Python), familiarity with software development methodologies, and a collaborative mindset. </aside>

Prerequisites:

Experience Level: We prefer candidates with at most one year of relevant experience in product management, design, or development.
Will You Be a Good Fit ?: Candidates who are passionate about product development, enjoy teamwork, and are eager to learn are encouraged to apply. </aside>
